Red Dot Award
Sennheiser Communications A/S has just been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for their new wireless headset BW 900. The internationally renowned jury prides itself on being objective and chooses winning products based on unique and innovative features, functionality and design. The BW 900 obviously scored top marks in all areas, as it was one of the few products chosen to receive the prestigious award. A particularly innovative feature is Adaptive Intelligence, which ensures that during conversations sound settings are adjusted automatically to compensate for fluctuations in ambient noise levels and actually remember the user's preferred settings.

The globally prominent and expert jury members at Red Dot had their work cut out for them, deciding between 2068 high quality product entries from over 41 countries. According to the design forum, only the best and most innovative in quality and design can be awarded this prestigious honour. The competition is over 50 years old and owes its notable reputation to the high degree of objectivity and reliability of its independent jury.
Sennheiser Communications' new BW 900 wireless office headset has now been recognized with this prestigious award. In its praise, Red Dot congratulated the creativity, innovation and high quality of the product. Developed as a top-quality professional headset solution for every office based user, the BW 900 features the unique Adaptive Intelligence to provide outstanding sound quality.
As the manufacturer reports, the BW 900 is a multifunctional companion capable of adapting independently and automatically to changes in the
sound environment, thus maintaining the perfect level of speech quality.
Thanks to the uniquely developed Adaptive Intelligence feature, the
headset reacts automatically to changes in the level of ambient noise and adjusts the headset volume accordingly. In addition, the BW 900 is capable of learning from the user?s preferred settings. It remembers those settings and applies them from then on. Adaptive Intelligence also ensures that the person conversing with the headset user can enjoy optimum speech clarity. Since both parties of the conversation benefit, BW900 is a significant step toward improving the quality of business conversations.
With its unique Adaptive Intelligence feature, Sennheiser Communications is setting a new benchmark, as well as coming up with the perfect answer to the increasingly sophisticated requirements of professional headset users. Winning the Red Dot Award serves to confirm this. Further convincing product features include:
No cables - freedom: more room to move, with a range of 100 m
During a conversation, the user is free to walk to the printer, relocate to a conference room or access information on the Internet. The BW 900 allows the mobile user to do several things simultaneously while moving around freely. The BW 900 will maintain outstanding sound quality for a range of up to 100 meters from the base station, included in delivery. "Bluetooth technology has become a determinant in the product strategy of Sennheiser Communications" says Andreas Bach, Managing Director of Sennheiser Communications. "Greater freedom, more flexibility and optimum quality - these are the requirements we live up to with the BW 900."
A headset for everyone - thanks to optimum connectivity
The Bluetooth interface allows the BW 900 to be connected to several
devices simultaneously. Whether mobile phones or other types of
telephones, such as smartphones and even PC based softphones such as Skype: the BW 900 is compatible with all types of speech-based Bluetooth devices. The user need not miss a call. No more juggling several handsets at once: instead, the user-friendly pushbutton interface lets the user switch seamlessly between landline phones and any other connected, Bluetooth enabled telephones.
Built to make you look and feel good
Yet another plus for the headset is its discreet design. Perfectly balanced and weighing only 26 grams, the BW 900 sits behind the ear. It is fashioned so that the user will barely notice it, making it comfortable enough to wear all day. It can be ergonomically adjusted for a perfect fit on any ear - and even folded to fit into a pocket. The blue-and-charcoal design is unobtrusive, and the small microphone boom restricts neither the user's freedom of movement nor their field of vision.
The Red Dot Award will be presented to representatives from Sennheiser Communications at the special ceremony "Design on stage - winners red dot award: product design 2006" at the Essen Opera House on June 26, 2006. Over 1200 international guests from design, culture, science and politics are expected to attend the gala.
With over 4,000 entries from 40 countries, the red dot design award ranks among the largest design competitions worldwide. The competition is divided into three sections - product design, communication design and concept design - which are staged and adjudicated separately. The coveted trophy is the red dot, the international seal of quality for outstanding design. For More information please visit http://www.red-dot.de/.
